Strong BAMSSA Representation at FBMSA Annual Convention & Scientific Symposium 2026

BAMSSA will have a strong representation at the FBMSA Annual Scientific Meeting, being held in Sydney on 26–27 September 2026, bringing together around 350 Bangladeshi-origin doctors from across Australia.

The BAMSSA delegation includes current President Dr Imtiaz B Choudhury, former Presidents Dr Md Wazid and Dr Nusrat Parveen Nadia, as well as past BAMSSA Executive Committee members Abdullah Al Jobair, AKM Hassan and others.

BAMSSA members will make significant contributions to the scientific program, with two members presenting, alongside several serving as moderators and panel members. Dr. Akbar Ashrafi, a former Education Secretary of BAMSSA, will also serve as the Master of Ceremonies, while another will take on the important role of Election Commissioner for the upcoming FBMSA Executive Committee election.

Several BAMSSA members have worked closely with representatives from other states in developing the scientific program, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and friendship that continues to grow among Bangladeshi medical associations across Australia. BAMSSA will also have a special presence in the cultural celebrations accompanying the gathering.

Reflecting on BAMSSA’s participation, Education Secretary Dr Mohammad Ahmedullah said:

“As before, BAMSSA is going to have strong representation in the upcoming FBMSA Scientific Meeting. We are having two main topic presenters, several moderators and panel members. Above all, we are going to have the main MC. Some of our BAMSSA members have also worked hard with representatives from other states to prepare an excellent program.”

BAMSSA President Dr Imtiaz B Choudhury highlighted the scale and significance of the gathering, saying:

“About 350 Bangladeshi-origin doctors will attend the convention. The biggest convention ever outside Bangladesh, to our knowledge. Glad to be a part of history.”

For BAMSSA, the meeting is an opportunity not only for professional learning and collaboration, but also for reconnecting with colleagues and friends from across Australia.

BAMSSA looks forward to a memorable gathering filled with scientific exchange, fellowship, friendship and celebration, and hopes that the strong relationships being built across state associations will continue to flourish in the years ahead.
